Pastor Rempfer retired from full-time service in June 2024. He continues to serve by visiting shut-ins and occasionally preaching.
Rev. Matt Riley
1986-
Served 2023 - Present
Pastor Riley was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1986 to Brian and Kristi Riley. He attended Trinity Lutheran School, Lutheran High School of Indianapolis, and graduated from Valparaiso University in 2008.
He received masters degrees in Reading Education and Educational Leadership. Before attending seminary, he taught on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota (2008-2011), in Rapid City, South Dakota (2013-2016), and served as Principal of Trinity Lutheran School in Indianapolis, Indiana (2016-2020). He also served as Program Director at Lakeview Ministries in Seymour, Indiana (2011-2013). He concluded his studies at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 2023. Pastor Riley served his vicarage at St. James Lutheran, Quincy, Illinois in the 2022-2023 school year. In 2023, he was called as Pastor of St. James Lutheran Church in Quincy, Illinois. He was ordained and installed on June 25, 2023.
Pastor Riley served as Quincy Circuit Visitor from June 2023-present.
Pastor Riley was married to Jennifer Gulley, daughter of Raymond and Teresa Gulley of Burlington, Iowa, on August 2, 2008. They have been blessed with three children: Katherine (2010), Elisabeth (2010), and Nathanael (2012).
